I just realised it only ever has me in it. I never choose photos with other people in them, even loved ones. Maybe it’s a subconscious fear that people looking to friend me won’t be able to find my page if I am blending in with other people in my pic. It certainly freaks me out when I go to look for someone and I can’t be sure if it’s them or not because there are four people in the picture and all of them look like the one I’m looking for.

As if I don't have enough on my plate…

I have a couple of things to say about this. First of all, the cross belongs in the museum in a way. The fact that it is a cross beam from the site itself gives it credence. However, the fact that so many people view it as a religious symbol, even if they are not even aware that that is how they view it, means it ultimately doesn’t belong. The all or none is a good idea, but it would not make any sense for other religions to have giant metal symbols made and throw it in just to off set the cross. Instead, they should be allowed to create a symbol the same size as the cross, but made artistically out of the scrap metal from ground zero. This would give the symbols the same level of historical value as the giant cross beams, and give the different religions a level playing ground with Christianity. Though, ultimately, since no other religious (or non-religous) symbol is as simple as the cross, I think the artistic creations would be more impressive and beautiful in the long run. My biggest question, though, is: if it truly isn’t a secular cross (which I agree- it isn’t), then why haven’t the American Atheists approached the minority religious communities to join together and take the stance against it? Doing so would show the case judge that the different communities do not want the Christian cross to symbolise their religion. So why haven’t they done this?

Hey guys. As you may or may not know, I am face blind (prosopagnosia). There are several great sites to help explain what this is and why it happens (links below), but the short version is that I cannot easily recognize faces, even those of close relatives. Unless I see you and interact with you on a daily or near daily basis, I will probably not recognize you. It’s nothing personal. My brain just isn’t wired right for some reason, and I don’t even know why.

It’s a very embarrassing and difficult condition. The thing is, nobody knows about prosopagnosia. If they did, I wouldn’t have to preface the post with this. If they did, Firefox’s spell check probably wouldn’t be underlining it as misspelled. But it’s a huge part of my life. I have to study facebook before family events so I can correctly recognize my aunts, uncles, and cousins (and I still mess up). I don’t recognize people outside of where I normally see them, which is problematic for many reasons. Just today, I failed to recognize the people in the elevator as my classmates, and it would have been an extremely awkward ride to the fourth floor if a friend hadn’t bailed me out. It’s just a very uncomfortable existence, because everybody thinks I just don’t care, or I’m avoiding them or ignoring them. I don’t mean to- I just don’t recognize them.

It is socially devastating.

Now, to the point- I recently discovered that an ad agency in New York designed a series of shirts for the face blind. They’re simple, witty, clean, but don’t turn the condition into a joke or something to be ashamed of. These shirts would open up conversation. They would make life a little less stressful in a world full of complete strangers who know my name.

The problem is that the designs were originally made for the benefit of one of the designers’ relatives, and therefore were only produced in a small run. If I want a shirt or multiple shirts from them, it will cost me $25 each to have them specially made, plus shipping. I’m a designer; I know I could go produce something similar for cheaper, but that would be rude and dishonest, and I would love to see this agency eventually produce the shirts on the large scale for other face blind people out there.

But, I’m also kind of poor. So what I would like to do is open up sketch commissions. I would like to make at least $50 to get two shirts, but if I could reach my goal of $90, that should cover three shirts and the shipping.

I know it’s not as horribly pressing as raising money for surgery or something, but it would mean a lot to me.

This man has been cyberstalking me for five years (he even called my parents’ house at one point and sent them letters begging them to tell me to let him be with me). It has escalated, at this point, to him threatening to murder people in order to get me.

I don’t know what to do anymore. I’m terrified of him. He uses my last name as his and refers to me as his wife, even though I have made it crystal clear that I will never even LIKE him, and now he’s threatening to kill people. We were friends at one point, but I broke things off five years ago. It’s only escalated in creepiness since then.

As I recall, his full name is Nickalaus Stoutzenberger, and his letters indicate he lives, at least part-time, in Washington Boro, Pennsylvania. His birthday is September 1st, 1991. He has been known to use the usernames Hagurumon, Hagurukagi, and Nick Bate.

I’m not asking for a campaign of harassment here—I am asking for help. This man has terrorized me since I was 15, causing me to fear for my safety. He has threatened to kill pretty much everyone I’ve dated, and is clearly dangerous.

THERE IS ALSO EVIDENCE THAT HE HAS MOLESTED HIS YOUNGER SISTER.

Please, help me.
